I like Buffy. That's not a surprise.
I like Buffy. That sort of is.

I took the comic home and played the theme song before I read it. I knew I was a dork before, but my gosh.

Ooooh, details! I mean, I already sort of spoiled myself, but I'd be interested in your take. What did you like? Was the gadgetry overwhelming? Did they piss on my ship? That kind of stuff. =)

The gadgetry was a bit much, but there is, at least, the strong implication that the gadgetry-- as well as the whole Slayer Command Central thing, is mostly Xander's idea.

The bit with Giant Dawn is amusing, and the layout of that sequence is pretty cool.

Shipwise, there's little, other than Buffy (in inner monologue) thinking how she REALLY misses sex. She names no names, but there really are only two options, right? Plus she's annoyed because the thinks Dawn had sex (and thus became Giant).

But, other than being tech'd up, it does seem very Buffy to me.

I bought it. Which is sad, because I'm still debating if I actually want to read it or not.

Oh, and Buffy on the cover? I'm taking as a plot point, since that is CLEARLY Amy. She must be going undercover at some point or something.

My esteemed colleague [livejournal.com profile] mmaresca covered most of it, but here are some additional things I liked.

Dawn refuses to share intimate details with Buffy and is holding out for Willow, which in and of itself is not the part I liked. I liked her specific reaction to that:

Ooh! I just know Dawn had sex with that Kenny and won't say anything to me -- fine, her first time and it all goes wrong, which I'm totally well-versed in and anyhow Willow's the expert on boys since when now?

That line really sold the entire comic for me, and I'm not sure why.

There's a Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD joke that Xander makes that kind of grated a little, but since there was an on-screen Nick Fury joke, I'm not sure I can complain.

I'm not sure all the gadgets and support staff are entirely due to Xander. I'm not quite sure how to say this, but I think the Initiative made an impression on Buffy that she filed away for future use.

Amy's in it.

I'm not sure if I can say anything about the clothes. They seem similar to what I've seen other, civillian people skydive in, during he part where she's skydiving. :)

Those were also my thoughts! After the last couple of season where they made her act progressively worse while the show and characters acted like she was progressively better I really didn't like the character.
The comic, so far, is much kinder to her.
