The TV monster was exactly as meta as I feared, and consequently not at all scary. It's no good telling us how horrible mass communication can be on a mass medium.

Rose got her face eaten by the TV monster, which would at first blush seem to be a very stupid thing for her to do. I disagree, because all the Doctor ever does is stick his nose in and meddle with things he doesn't like. Or, wait, I suppose I should say that, yes, it is stupid, but let's not go having one rule for him and another for her. If we're going to yell at the cat-nuns for their horrible medical experiments, let's go ahead and barge in on the weaselly little man selling the TVs. Even though, yes, getting your face eaten by the TV monster is pretty dumb.

I don't believe I've ever seen the Doctor get punched in the face. It made me think of Jon Pertwee and Venusian Aikido.

I am so crazy about Rose now. I can see why some of the other people whose reactions I have read aren't crazy about her in this ep, what with all the superior swanning about, but when the TV has crazy purple lightning on it, does she go up and timidly tug on the Doctor's sleeve and wait to have it all explained to her? No, she looks at the back of the TV!

I went to college with a girl called Sarah. Several of them, but I am thinking of a particular one. And one day it was incredibly, murderously hot out and we were all bitching about how hot and uncomfortable we were. And Sarah got a disgusted look on her face, and went out and got in her car, and came back with a little inflatable kiddie pool. And she blew the damn thing up and filled it with water. Because what the hell else are you gonna do?

Rose reminds me of Sarah.

I srill like the Ninth Doctor better than the Tenth.
