I've been watching a lot of House, so the compulsion to be derisive is almost irresistible. Let's see how I do.
1. While I can see why this theory is catnip to fangirls, there's just no way. It's cracky, and you're right about RTD, but the Master won't appear and he'd need to. 20-1.
2. This theory is actually separate from any maternity theories. Which is to say, while Doctorette may be Susan's mother, that tells us nothing about Doctorette's own mother. 5-2.
3. This has the advantage of being someone the narrative doesn't have to explain. On the other hand, eww. I'll go 10-1 on this one.
4. Who? I mean, you know who, and I know who, but a casual viewer has no idea of who Romana...
(mmm, happy place)
... is. 60-1, but I wish I could give this better odds. I like Romana. (She gets worse odds than the Master because she's from the Ancient Past whereas he is merely a season old.)
Whoever the mom turns out to be, she'll have to be introduced, re-introduced , or disposed of in a quick exposition within the episode itself. Therefore, the most likely candidates are Rose (3-1), Martha (15-1) and Donna, discussed above. Rose's odds would be lower had her return not been teased.
My most likely outcome: there is no mom. I'll give even money on this one. Some sort of test-tubery, not involving the Master, has given rise to this spawn-of-Doctor. I want to say gene-tweaked clone of Ten, but the Sontarans were clones and that's a lot of clones.
Also, looms for the loss. I can't lay odds on this one, but I hated the idea that Time Lords reproduce asexually.
(All references to oddsmaking are not to be taken literally and no wagers will be accepted.)
If I knew who was writing it, I might have more theories. We'll see next week.
