Suppose I am reading an LJ and a commenter (not the journal owner) says something really pretentious and stupid. The correct thing to do is to keep my big trap shut, right? It's not polite to start flaming a commenter in a third-party journal?

That's what I thought.

Le sigh.

I believe technically you're supposed to post a link here locked so we can come back to this journal and bitch together. [From Emily Post]

The example isn't epic enough to warrant linking.

But thank you for the etiquette tip. :)

I think if it's in a community post it's fine. In a private lj post probably not so much unless the journal owner ok's it.

Maybe not the polite thing to do, but that hasn't kept me from doing it a few times (well, not flaming, but being foolish enough to ignite a "conversation").
